Crandon, Wisconsin – January 17, 2013 – Hometown Trolley has been awarded a $2.6 million contract with the City of Alpena, MI to build new fully-electric trolleys over the next two years. Alpena was awarded a grant under the Clean Fuels Act to utilize a platform that did not burn fossil fuels, which provided the opportunity for Hometown Trolley to market their innovative new vehicle.

“After years of research and development we are now producing this new product that is not available anywhere else in the industry,” stated Hometown Trolley Chief Executive Officer Kristina Pence-Dunow. “We see this as the next step toward our continued efforts to provide the best trolley platforms to be found in the marketplace. We are passionate about incorporating green technology into our product portfolio. This is the future of transportation and we intend to lead the charge.”

When completed and delivered, the Federal Transportation Authority (FTA) will collect data including emissions and efficiency for a one-year period as part of an FTA research project.

Hometown Trolley produces custom trolley buses for the public transit industry.
